How to Backup & Restore Using JetBackup in cPanel

JetBackup is a built-in tool in cPanel used to create, manage, and restore full or partial backups of your hosting account. Most hosting providers, including Servers9, offer JetBackup as a standard feature.

With JetBackup, you can:

  • Restore full account backups
  • Restore individual files or folders
  • Restore MySQL databases
  • Recover email accounts or cron jobs

🔐 How to Access JetBackup in cPanel

  1. Login to your cPanel account
    Access it via https://manage.servers9.com > My Products > Login to cPanel.
  2. Scroll down to the “Files” section.
  3. Click on “JetBackup” or “JetBackup 5” (depending on your hosting version).

💾 How to Restore a Full Account Backup

A Full Account Backup includes all files, databases, emails, cron jobs, DNS settings, and more.

🧭 Steps:

  1. Inside JetBackup, click on “Full Backups”.
  2. Choose a backup date you want to restore from.
  3. Click the Restore button.
  4. Confirm the restoration by clicking “Add to Restore Queue.”
  5. The system will begin the restoration. You can monitor progress under the “Queue” section.

🕒 Note: Restoring a full account can take several minutes depending on your data size.

📁 How to Restore Specific Files or Folders

If you only need to recover certain files or folders, JetBackup has you covered.

🧭 Steps:

  1. In the JetBackup interface, click on “File Backups.”
  2. Select a backup date.
  3. Browse your home directory and check the boxes next to the files/folders you want to restore.
  4. Click Restore Selected > Confirm.
  5. Check the Queue tab to see restoration progress.

🧠 How to Restore a MySQL Database

If your website relies on a database (e.g., WordPress, Joomla), restoring it properly is critical.

🧭 Steps:

  1. Click on “Database Backups” in JetBackup.
  2. Select the date of the backup.
  3. Click Restore next to the database you want to recover.
  4. Confirm and monitor under the Queue section.

📬 How to Restore Email Accounts

Lost email data or deleted an email account by mistake? You can recover it too!

🧭 Steps:

  1. Click on “Email Backups.”
  2. Find the relevant email account backup by date.
  3. Click Restore, then confirm the action.

⏱ Check Restoration Status

You can view the progress of any backup or restore job from the “Queue” tab inside JetBackup.

Here, you’ll see:

  • Pending tasks
  • In-progress jobs
  • Completed actions
  • Any errors or logs
